Introduction |
RPSA protein, encoded by the RPSA gene in humans, serves dual roles as both a ribosomal protein and a cell surface receptor for laminin. In particular, it plays a pivotal role in various pathogenic processes. The RPSA gene encodes a multifaceted protein that not only functions as a ribosomal component but also acts as a high-affinity, non-integrin laminin receptor. The amino acid sequence of RPSA has remained highly conserved throughout evolution, hinting at its crucial biological function. Notably, studies have shown that the level of RPSA transcripts is elevated in colon carcinoma tissue and lung cancer cell lines compared to their normal counterparts. |
