Introduction |
RPS4Y1 protein in humans is specified by the gene RPS4Y1. This gene is responsible for encoding ribosomal protein S4, which serves as an integral part of the 40S ribosomal subunit. Intriguingly, ribosomal protein S4 stands unique among ribosomal proteins as it is encoded by multiple genes: RPS4Y1, RPS4Y2, and the X-linked ribosomal protein S4 gene (RPS4X). While the three isoforms produced by these genes are not identical in sequence, they exhibit functional equivalence. |
