| Introduction | RPS24 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that forms part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S24E family of ribosomal proteins. It resides in the cytoplasm. Various transcript variants encoding different isoforms of this protein have been identified. Consistent with genes encoding ribosomal proteins, multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are scattered throughout the genome. Mutations within this gene can lead to the development of Diamond-Blackfan anemia. |
