Introduction |
RPS19 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that serves as a component of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S19E family of ribosomal proteins. It is localized in the cytoplasm. In a subset of patients, mutations in this gene are responsible for causing Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA), a congenital disorder characterized by the absence or decreased production of erythroid precursors. |
