| Introduction |
RPS16 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is an integral part of the 40S subunit and is categorized under the S9P family of ribosomal proteins. This protein is localized within the cytoplasm. Consistent with the trend observed in genes encoding ribosomal proteins, several processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome. Importantly, mutations or defects in the RPS16 gene have been associated with conditions such as Influenza and Diamond-Blackfan Anemia. |
